BEACH FEET SURF FILM & ART FESTIVAL
surf · art · community
Cannon Distillery, James Island, SC
Saturday November 21st
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Beach Feet Surf Film Festival celebrates the weird, wild, and wonderfully varied corners of surf culture. From independent filmmakers chasing stories far off the beaten path to local artists, ocean obsessives, and everyday surfers, the festival brings together the people who keep surfing weird. Charleston, South Carolina’s premier night of films, art, and conversation centered around the characters, places, and stories that remind us why we’re all still drawn back to the sea.
Featuring standout surf films, a local short film competition, surf-inspired artwork, and a lineup of local vendors and creatives. Beach Feet brings more space for different voices in surf filmmaking, while maintaining a 50/50 split of screen time between men and women filmmakers.
Stick around after the credits for food, drinks from Cannon Distillery, and a sneaky DJ set with Jack from Grooving Violations & James Island Sound Systems.
Just good films, good people, and a reason to get together.
WHY BEACH FEET?
We know surf culture isn’t all sunshine, long lines, and a clean bar of wax.
It’s long drives with questionably strapped boards on the roof, dodgy motels, early alarms, and chasing waves in the far corners of the map. It’s showing up to your Zoom call ten minutes late and dripping wet. It’s dirt under your toenails, sunburns, Bali belly, bare feet, and wondering where the hell your other flip-flop went.
Because the best waves, the best stories, and the best shots rarely come easy. The thick pads on your feet are earned. Through miles traveled, risks taken, and a relentless odyssey for empty lineups, wild ideas, and unconventional stories that keep surf culture curious.

Content focus:
- We’re looking for films that explore the many sides of surf culture — from remote adventures and creative expression to environmental stories, community, and the people who exist beyond the traditional surf spotlight.
- We especially welcome films featuring female surfers, nontraditional surf voices, emerging communities, and stories from the edges of surf culture.
Submission rules:
- Filmmakers must own or have permission to use all footage, music, and creative materials.
- Selected filmmakers grant Beachfeet permission to screen their film during the 2027 festival and use approved promotional clips/stills for marketing.
- There is no requirement that films premiere at Beachfeet.
We’re not looking for the biggest waves or the most polished edits. We’re looking for the stories that make surf culture interesting. Show us the weird corners, the overlooked voices, and the people who pave their own path.

COMMUNITY IMPACT + SHES ON EDGE
Proceeds from Beach Feet support shes on edge, a Charleston-based nonprofit leading a cultural shift in surf and skate by creating inclusive, feminist spaces where the community challenges norms, fosters connection, and uplifts one another without any financial commitment.
Through surf, skate, and creative programming, shes on edge works to expand who feels welcome in these spaces and who gets to shape the culture. The organization creates opportunities for women and community members to learn, teach, lead, and take up space — both in and out of the water.
Vision
We envision a judgment-free surf and skate culture that centers equity, liberation, and women’s leadership while honoring those who are willing to teach and learn.
Beachfeet exists to celebrate the stories pushing surf culture forward. To help build a surf culture that reflects the community we want to exist in: creative, inclusive, curious, and always evolving.
